Disney rocks with "Camp" musical

By Kimberly Nordyke
Disney Channel's Jonas By Brothers movie "Camp Rock" debuted big Friday night, though it didn't match last year's record-setting "High School Musical 2.""Camp Rock," which features a slew of musical performances from the teen heroes, averaged 8.9 million total viewers at 8-10 p.m. Friday, making it the cable network's second-most-watched original movie ever behind "HSM 2," according to Nielsen. "Camp Rock" pulled in about half of that movie's audience (17.2 million) in its August 17 premiere. However, "Camp Rock" did outperform the original "HSM," which debuted in January 2006 to 7.7 million viewers, and other original movies like "Jump In!" which averaged 8.2 million in January 2007.In the kid demos, "Camp Rock" drew 3.5 million kids 6-11 and 3.4 million tweens 9-14, which Disney said was higher than "American Idol's" most recent season premiere and finale on Fox.The movie made Disney Channel the most-watched network from 8-10 p.m. Friday in total viewers, topping runner-up CBS by more than 3 million. On Saturday, "Camp Rock" averaged 3.6 million total viewers when it aired as part of on sister broadcast channel ABC. It aired again Sunday on cable's ABC Family, and will premiere on Disney.com Monday.

How Young Is Too Young to Be a Paparazzo?

When celebrities and paparazzi collide, the resulting picture is not always a pretty one. Hardened shutterbugs battle throngs of fellow photographers in the hunt for the next big money shot. It's an arena that can be downright ugly, nasty and even dangerous. Blaine Hewison, left, and Austin Visschedyk are 15-year-old and work as paparazzi in Los Angeles.(Courtesy Blaine Hewison and Austin Visschedyk)More PhotosYou'd certainly never expect to find two wide-eyed 15-year-olds in the middle of the mayhem, but young photographers Austin Visschedyk and Blaine Hewison have been making a name for themselves as paparazzi … and not always a good one.
"I took a picture of Adam Sandler, exclusive," Blaine recalled. "And he came up to me and said, 'So you're gonna be a dick.'" "He was being really rude," Austin added.
Were they invading Sandler's privacy? Blaine doesn't think so.
"If you're a celebrity, you've gotta know that there's gonna be paparazzi," Blaine said. "It's a choice you make. If you don't want it, you can end it."

Billy Ray Cyrus compares Miley Cyrus' topless controversy to a 'stomp in poop.'

Talking publicly about his daughter Miley Cyrus' Vanity Fair photo shoot for the first time, country music star Billy Ray Cyrus said he wasn’t there when the most controversial shot was taken."I didn't know they were gonna strip her down and wrap her in a blanket," Cyrus told Meredith Vieira on "Today" Tuesday in New York, referring to the shot of his 15-year-old daughter taken by photographer Annie Leibovitz. In the photo, the "Hannah Montana" star appeared to be topless, covered only by a sheet she clutched to her chest. Watch the video HERE. (Comments about Miley appear about three minutes in.)Though Cyrus doesn't approve of the photograph, which Leibovitz defended as "a simple, classic portrait, shot with very little makeup," he said that heeded his dad's advice on the situation."My dad always told me the more you stomp in poop, the more it stinks," Billy Ray said. "So I was just, 'OK, this happened. We got to deal with it.' "And what about that other photo of Miley in Billy Ray's lap, which also raised more than a few eyebrows? That's just a daddy who loves his daughter a whole lot," Billy Ray explained, laughing off the question about the pose that Vieira thought made them look like more like girlfriend and boyfriend.Aw, shucks.

'So Far, So Good' for Lindsay Lohan on Set

By Mike Fleeman

Lindsay Lohan has only been the set of her new movie Labor Pains for a week, but so far she's earned high marks for professionalism as she gets her film career back on track. "We were a little bit reluctant to work with her," Lati Grobman, one of the producers, tells PEOPLE. "But she's been amazing." Lohan, 21, whose movie career has been stalled by several stints in rehab, showed up for work June 9 on the L.A. location and has consistently been early and well-prepared for the grueling 12-hour shooting days, says Grobman. In her return to comedy, Lohan plays a publishing house employee who escapes getting fired by pretending to be pregnant. "She's so natural at what she does. I've never seen one take where she's off," says Grobman. "The difference between her and the other girls that are naughty in the business is that she's actually talented. It's not [like] Paris Hilton and the rest of them. We took the chance. It's good that we did. So far, so good." The only problem is the horde of photographers who have infiltrated the Los Angeles-area locations,"Paparazzi are ruining my life," says Grobman. "This is the most insane thing I've ever seen in my life. They do things that are very, very aggressive. I'm not a producer anymore, I'm a police woman."
